Johanna Ho may be born in Hong Kong but she has a broad international design perspective nurtured from years of studying and living abroad. She launched her own couture collection in 1999, in which the clothes attracted such word of mouth attention in social circles that eventually a ready-to-wear collection was developed. Johanna showed her first AW99 collection during London Fashion Week, and interest from markets around the world such as the US, UK, Japan then beckoned. Between 2004-2009, the brand was licensed to Sanyo Shokai of Japan (who owned Burberry Blue and Black Label then) and naturally Johanna moved and stationed in Tokyo for the first year. Together 11 shops were opened including a flagship store in Omotesando.
Following four whirlwind years developing the Japan market, Johanna decided to re-focus her work/life balance in Hong Kong in 2010. The respite allowed Johanna to fine-tune the brand’s direction, for more relevance to the modern women’s lifestyle.
Johanna has become ever mindful of the legacy she leaves for the next generation. Conscious of the industry's inherent demand for consumption, Johanna still strives to help customers buy responsibly in adopting eco-friendly practices in materials and designs. In 2008, Johanna was invited to be a founding member of the “Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium”.
Known for Johanna's glamorous aesthetic, international pop sensation Lana Del Rey becomes a fan of hers. Johanna has also been involved in costume design and wardrobe styling for numerous top Asian artists including Karen Mok, Eason Chan, Faye Wong, Miriam Yeung and Josie Ho. In 2010, Johanna appeared as a judge on the Fashion World Talent Awards (China/ Hong Kong’s version of Project Runway).
